michael moore
Just back from a talk by American satirist Michael Moore – [www.michaelmoore.com] It was a thought-provoking couple of hours, covering personal history, politics, US and UK cultures, Iraq, Afghanistan, 9/11, censorship – all kinds of stuff regarding which I have been developing serious views in the past 10 years[1]. He was wild, funny, engaging, preachy,

just got home…
…from a market-research evening on behalf of BSM (British School of Motoring/Motorcycling) – more on this tomorrow, but I hope I’ve not miffed them, they seemed like nice people. Ah – the couple next door are now shagging wildly, loudly and resonantly. Lovely. I suppose I’m envious, but I could also do without that particular

stuff i’ve learned in the past 24 hrs
It takes about three hours to do a coat of paint in my bedroom; this seems like a long time, but includes everything from setting-up to washing-out the rollers and brushes, along with shuffling-around the dust-sheets and suchlike. The room is now, well, less pink. Mostly white. Hint-of-underlying-pinkish, but when the sunlight hits it, it

stuff i don’t want for christmas
just a little reference list as we approach the gift-giving season; the intent is not to be churlish – although no doubt it probably seems that way; i would just rather have something thoughtful that cost 50p, rather than a 8-quid bottle of whisky that I’ll never drink. it seems unfair not to warn people,

sugar soaping
is it normal, when washing walls prior to painting, for hand-sized patches of wall to be revealed as having barely been painted by the previous occupant, the act of washing removing all the last traces of emulsion, and a pale filigree of unpainted plaster? [216.239.33.100] doesn’t tell me what it’s made of, either.

House Weekend Update
interesting weekend, from the perspective of being busy. the fact of living on top of myself with everything piled up in the spare bedroom is more pleasant than expected; i suspect that this is purely because i know that it a temporary situation. it would be rather different if i was forced to live in

are we bourgeois yet?
well, i’ve spent most of the day disassembling, moving, raking, hoovering, cleaning, washing, mixing and pasting polyfilla into sundry grooves, cracks, voids, dents and drill-holes… i am finding it fun, if a little insular to be doing it on my own, not to mention that it seems to mostly comprise short periods of gunkiness, interspersed

video successes
i’ve had over 650 downloads of my security training video in the past 10 days! yay! biggest audience i’ve had in a long time, and with less hassle than prepping for training conference delivery! perhaps i’ll crack a bottle of wine this evening, to celebrate, and to make the furniture-moving a bit more pleasant…

home decorating status
well, i had my mate iain around last night, found several cosmetic cracks in my bedroom plasterwork, drained and dismounted the radiators, and moved all my living-things into the spare room. tonight will be removal of shelving and other fittings, and i’ll try and get the beds and other things relocated too. hopefully tomorrow i

sunday update
well i can take some time on doing a posting, live, as opposed to writing a text file and pasting it in after the fact; i’m logged in downloading the MacOS 10.2.2 update for my newly reinstalled imac (much nicer than 10.1 was) and this will take some time given that i still have a
