• Bike Week.

Argh. I ache. Tuesday was my bike’s 7500 mile service – undertaken at 8200 miles – so i went up to oxford, dropped off the bike, and got a taxi to a friend’s place. Spent the morning theraputically vegging on her sofa with a book (Benedict Allen, Into the Crocodile’s Nest) and then a quick

  • A Fine Example of Powerpoint Gone Wrong – The Gettysburgh Address

It’s a little known fact that the inventor of Powerpoint attributes the inspiration for the tool to the mass of TeX that Whitfield Diffie uses for most of his presentations. I know this is true, because Whit told me so. 😎 In the spirit of presentation education my colleague Geoff shared the following with me:

  • Microsoft’s Got Blogging On the Brain

[www.microsoft-watch.com] Microsoft’s been hinting publicly and privately that it’s bullish on blogging. For any Rip Van Winkles out there who’ve slept through the blogging craze, Weblogs (a k a blogs) can be as simple as personal online diaries. But they can be more. A growing number of Microsoft bloggers are using Weblogs as a tool

Whit’s always interesting and good company, so I hastily swap the outdoors cleanup scheduled for this weekend, for the indoors cleanup that was scheduled for this weekend, and

[www.theregister.co.uk] This is getting to be a bit of a habit: some of Central London’s ‘jamcams’ – webcams to monitor the traffic – are down today, “operational reasons so that maintenance can be performed”. Entirely coincidentally, the webcams that need to be maintained are lined along the major routes for today’s annual May Day demofest.

I took suzi to the vet; she’s had a paw shaved and blood sample taken, for the princely sum of 130 quid they will do bloodwork and let me know if she’s got any internal problems. i’ve moved her and buster onto pure meat (felix, whatever) diets and will see if this provides palliative relief.

I was one of the first people in the UK to test-ride the new KTM 950 Adventure on saturday morning; rode to Harrow to the nearest KTM dealership, queued and went for a blast. I am very very very very very very very very very glad to have been accompanied by Roy and Simon in
