Stingray (?) In Emeryville Marina Originally uploaded by alecmuffett I was shooting pix of the Egret (see other photos) when Adriana noticed this ray in the water, moving at speed; I got off a single shot before it vanished into the murk. The image cleaned-up well. The ray was about 18″ across.

Want. Billion-pixel panoramas — from your own camera – Times Online The Gigapan allows people to take pictures which are more than a gigapixel – or 1,000 megapixels – in size, effectively turning a single photograph into a panoramic experience, around which the viewer can navigate on a computer. Yet the actual camera used is

  • Computer Associates thinks CrackLib is a hacking tool?

    2008/05/20 07:30:59 BST

CA Anti-Spyware 2008 (aka: Pestpatrol) is not quite correct about CrackLib: http://www.pestpatrol.com/zks/pestinfo/c/cracklib_2_7.asp Clot Factor: Cracklib 2.7: 1 The “Clot Factor” is a measure of how much a pest “gums up” a machine by adding registry entries, files, and directories. As more objects are placed in a machine, manual removal becomes more difficult and more error-prone.

Author’s note: this is not a white paper. This is an opinion-piece, possibly a polemic. In it I expound what I believe rather than making an argument for you to believe it too; however if through it you arrive at a technical question or desire clarification, then please leave a comment using the tool provided.

  • The Brompton Bicycle makes you a Sweaty Menace?

    2008/05/06 12:30:51 BST

I always wondered how long it would be before folks started to whine. The obvious question is: why are they complaining about the cyclists when they could be complaining about getting a bigger train. Trains are not a fixed resource. If there is demand, there should also be supply. It’s funny also how the guy

  • Several Reasons Mel Gibson’s “Edge Of Darkness” Will Likely Suck

I’ve mentioned this elsewhere, but I was thinking it over and have come up with a list of my issues regarding a US movie adapation of Edge of Darkness – feel free to add to it in the comments: Bob Peck is Dead: OK, that’s a bit unfair, but the man did “grief” like nobody
