  • Francis Davey: Commentary on the History of Marriage /ht @fjmd1

    2012/09/24 14:34:18 BST

Francis wrote the following as a Facebook response to my previous posting; I thought it was so good I sought/got permission to repost it here. It’s a response to Mel Rimmer’s feed line that: […] But with this particular issue, I honestly don’t even understand their own attempts to explain their reasons. …that Francis writes:

  • Cryptocat 2 Public Beta Released « Cryptocat Development Blog # epic, well done @kaepora /cc @cryptocatapp

    2012/09/24 13:49:05 BST

This is fabulous. Now all we have to do is hope that WiReD shuts the fuck up about it. Cryptocat 2, the next major revision of the Cryptocat Project, has been released as a public beta. It’s a revolutionary step over previous versions of Cryptocat, completely rebuilding and restructuring the user interface, backend, encryption techniques

    2012/09/24 13:38:18 BST

Really, from around the 01:05 mark. I know a bunch of exceedingly well-read types in the Met, not universally certainly, but that’s the way of humanity. I’m not convinced the Conservative chief whip is not possibly a jumped-up arrogant little tit – perhaps he is, perhaps not – however to say that the police are

  • A Response to the Government Equalities Office Consultation – Equal Civil Marriage – from the Church of England

    2012/09/24 13:25:00 BST

The Church of England cannot support the proposal to enable all couples, regardless of their gender, to have a civil marriage ceremony. We don’t like gay marriage. Such a move would alter the intrinsic nature of marriage as the union of a man and a woman, as enshrined in human institutions throughout history. We’re unfamiliar

  • So @davidleigh3 thinks that the #Guardian should be publicly funded by broadband tax; I wonder what @newsbrooke thinks?

    2012/09/24 10:21:13 BST

…since public funding would put (say) the Guardian into the same class as local council newspapers which she has fought against so stalwartly as propaganda and (essentially) a waste of taxpayer money. What are we to make of David Leigh? A £2-a-month levy on broadband could save our newspapers Proceeds could be distributed based on

  • For all journalists / anyone reading @MishaGlenny’s Guardian article on Iran and Cybersecurity, a lesson:

    2012/09/24 09:48:11 BST

Misha writes: (last sentence, my emphasis, paragraph break added for clarity) An unregulated cyber-arms race in which states develop malicious code before deploying it across the world has been triggered. Recently the BKA, Germany’s equivalent of the FBI, advertised openly for coders to write Trojan viruses for use in criminal investigations. “Governments, intelligence agencies and

I just woke up to find this: A DM from someone I follow that espouses itself as a facebook link – which it is, it goes to apps.facebook.com and then multiply redirects to a fake site with a fake facebook login screen under a twitter-ish URL. Very naughty. Be careful, everyone.
