weekend update

Well, like I said, last Wed/Thu/Fri were spent with me, PJ and RCC in Scotland, quite literally up to our arms in grids; I spent most of the time buried in a C compiler (which made for a pleasant change from the past few years’ worth of project management and security architecture) – and there is a certain pleasure in working in an environment where the morning commute looks like this:

…and the view across from the hotel, looks like this:

…but I am not sure that I’d like to work there permanently, not least because you have to wear anti-static foot straps and lab coats whenever you want to go plumb-up some equipment in the factory.

I got back late Friday, cleaned house and crashed out. Saturday was personal e-mail catchup and shopping, followed by dinner with Dave Walker, by whose good graces and those of Valerie I now am the proud possessor of a 15 Litre Clarke Manufacturing Gas/Petrol Tank for my Suzuki DRZ400S. You will learn more of this anon, but suffice it for now to say I am quite possibly excessively happy at the prospect of adding another 50 miles to my bike’s range.

Speaking of the bike: this morning I felt the need to go out for a bit of a blast, and in pursuit of circumnavigating London I chanced to visit Ian Smith and his partner Paula, only to be introduced to their new arrival George William Smith:

Get yourself a pair of static-prep’ed boots like most of the shop-floor, approx 40-50 quid, it at least takes the hassle out of the shoes.

BTW, the boots are stiff enough to double as reasonable lightweight riding boots 😉

Ps. looks like the steaks were good …
