it’s search-string time again

I have been getting a very large number of hits for the string bad taste in mouth (and variations of that) ever since i posted an article with that title to the blog.

Almost bizzarely this one does not seem to be an accidental pr0n conflict – compare and contrast to the thousands of hits which a portrait of my small-but-camera-laden friend Helen gets, due to my lack of appreciation of the fetish/pr0n overtones that the mob associate with a filename like topheavy.jpg.

However it is a mystery to me why “bad taste in [my] mouth” is so popular a search string; one theory can be constructed from googling around the topic, viz: that it is a possible side-effect of the Atkins diet and people are seeking more information?

I dunno.

Other popular / amusing searches-du-jour:

  • apple G5 laptop (lots)
  • 2004 classified ads posted used car in europe countries not usa by private owner (very precise)
  • ceo classified ads afghanistan 2004 (someone looking for a new job?)
  • laphroaig barcode (repeatedly; why?)
  • nickleback speaker left right (i remember this one; funny that it is being searched-for)
  • r1150gs naked women (uh-huh…)
  • safari skin firefox (lots)
  • dtrace scripts (which should make cantrill happy 😎 )

The fact that people are searching on “dtrace scripts” does indeed make me happy — let’s just hope that they’re not searching on “bad taste in mouth” hoping to find DTrace scripts! 😉

So if you came up with a predictive law about these queries would it be search-string theory ?

    I’ll get me coat..

Talk about self-fulfilling prophecy – you’re now the number 3 hit on Google for laphroaig barcode after two hits on the Laphroaig website itself! 🙂

uh, yeah. dropsafe is a highly-pageranked, if not thunderously enormously read, webblog; not least because the site was rather well-known before i moved my blog here…

logic would dictate that the searches would land on this page anyway, having landed here at least once, so why bother?

“laphroaig barcode (repeatedly; why?)” People who want to join the F.O.L. club, but don’t want to actually buy a bottle of Laproaig….the barcode is needed to get a membership.
