I have one of the aforementioned, but now I want to pair it – in portrait mode – with a new landscape monitor for a dual-head system. Desired resolution 2560×1600.

I was thinking about treating myself to a decent monitor a few months ago, until I found I didn’t really have the space; Dell still have a great reputation, and the U2711 even had the edge over Apple’s 27″ in a couple of tests I read.
I had a quick squint at the Dell website – worst piece of design I’ve seen in a very long time, and the model names make no obvious sense – so I can see why you’re after recommendations!
