pr0n comment spam

Well the moron at 216.138.225.34 must have gotten rather a nasty suprise when he found that my commenting code auto-escapes HTML anglebrackets.

For those who missed it, someone attempted to hide several kilobytes of “rape photo” links in a comment on my site – amusingly in a comment upon one of the postings about spam and viruses.

The lnks were hidden in a SPAN element, trying to use CSS to make them invisible:

<span style=”visibility:hidden; display:none”> </span><p>

…but was otherwise blank.

So, people, next time someone leaves an apparently blank comment in your weblog, double check your page content to ensure that your content is not being used to advertise gloriously named websites like date-rape-drug (dot) rapephotos (dot) us

Sigh – so many lamerz, so few cluebats.

i run a website for our neighborhood, and had one of those [guestbooks] online for awhile. then the cretins started abusing it .. adding links to their Crap Du’Juor, so eventually I removed the nice HTML front end. Yet, the posting continued, because I neglected to rename cgi-bin/guestbook.pl and that -Perl script URL- was being passed around, used directly. no more: i pulled the plug rather than deal with the infants.
