a blog, deserving of wider attention

I know people like this – sorta – but they are nothing like this: the LiveJournal of a Buffy-obsessed fanfic-writing former ballet dancer who now serves in the US Army in Iraq.

They say women don t belong in combat. I dont think that anybody does, frankly. But after today, the only thing I can say is that this woman doesnt belong anywhere where she has to listen to twits have conversations like this:
“Our ammo situation is red. Over.”

“Oh.”

“Come morning, we will be over-run, with high casualties. The enemy has stated they will eliminate everyone in the compound. Over. Have you relayed my last transmission to Higher?”

“Roger that, over.”

And then nothing. “What was their response?”

There was none.

Before the cleverer-than-thou types amongst my readership start to chortle gleefully it could all be a fake! – I ask you, go read the last six or so postings in that journal, and read some of the comments too – which range from the sympathetic to the (erm) bizzare, like people offering to ship ammunition to her.

Jeez.
