Why Sun threw in the towel in Mankind vs. Microsoft
Well TheRegister don’t seem to hate Sun, at least….
Principles are fine things to have, but only if you can afford them. With its stock declared a ‘junk bond’ and finishing a terrible quarter, Silicon Valley’s leading Microsoft antagonist Sun Microsystems has now decided it can’t. The news will have surprised the company’s lawyers, who only this week were girding themselves for a the next round of litigation.
Real ‘Akira’ Motorcycle

At Tokyo Motorcycle Show in Japan (2/3/4 Apr.), the official licensed model of the motorcycle in the anime movie Akira (poster) is displayed. This Kaneda bike is not a mere replica, but a full working model (more pics at ITmedia) with twin-steering system and 249-998cc water-cooled 4-cycle engine, and on its cockpit is DVD-navi-system + trackball & ten-key + custom computer-controlled LED meters – all licenced by the author and the publisher of Akira. Though at the show only miniature figures are sold and real price or release date is unclear, you can check out the manufacturer’s website for later info.
Paranoia on the rise
This one really annoys me – US fingerprints ‘allied’ visitors [news.bbc.co.uk] – the world’s governments seem hell-bent upon mollycoddling the populace and turning International Terrorism into the Western cultural bobeyman of the new millenium; next no doubt we’ll be hearing about the Domino Effect all over again.
