   It’s very USA-centric, but you might wish to read Strauss & Howe’s _Generations_. Written in 1991, parts of it are eerily prescient. I bought it in 1991 and its 4-stroke cyclical view of history is entertaining at a minimum. You can find the holes, but I think it’s worth a read. Many of these “stereotypes” can be traced back to this work.

   BTW, my parents fall right on the line between silent and boomer (I’ve heard the phrase “victory babies”), but at least one claims the former rather than the latter.

   I am a Jones with Silent parents.

   If you have met my parents, then you know that the Silent generation has been misnamed. They are not. They are quite the feisty pair!

   I have always hated being on the vague line between Boomer and X, so Jones is just fine for me 🙂
