Home Secretary: Wanna Cyber?

We must wait patiently for the other cybershoe to drop.

Two things are clear after cybermonday’s cyberhoohah cyberregarding cybersecurity:

First: no-one in government has yet Googled the phrase “wanna cyber?” else they’d know that to an adolescent demographic “cyber” when used as a noun or verb means “cybersex” or “to have cybersex”. Should this concept be unfamiliar think “sexting via instant messenger”.

  1. Update: URL fixed. WordPress barfed over a double-quote.

  2. It would have been far more apposite to refer to the problem as “infosecurity”, since this wider umbrella would not only cover “cybersecurity” but also “how to mitigate the risk of absent-minded civil servants leaving folders containing documents attracting ‘interesting’ protective markings, on public transport’.

Still, it’s good to see the issue being recognised. I’m looking forward to reading the Strategic Defence and Security Review, when it’s published later today, and hoping it’s “the other Cybershoe” :-).
