I am on the lookout for biking information re: Biking in France – Brad and I are speculatively planning a 10..12 day vacation early this summer, visiting:

• Waterloo and other Napoleonic Battlefields
• Somme and Ypres / WW1
• Normandy Landings / WW2

Brad has to fly to Europe from Chicago, and rather than add cost to the trip it makes sense for him to rent a bike in / fly to France (where in both cases he will get less reamed by costs and insurance) – and so I’d have to rendezvous with him at some suitable location; the Channel Tunnel will help sort that out.

I am in the research stage of this idea at the moment, digging up maps [www.quid.fr] and reading through various battlefield guidebooks.

I am also asking around fellow European-travelling bikers for information about bike rental (with panniers).

It seems daft not to broadcast this request as widely as possible. Suggested companies and prices would be most especially welcome.

So: does anyone have any ideas, suggestions, recommendations, please?
