ten leylandii conifers cut down, some rough ground cleared, and loads of heavy gardening. cooking. oh yes, and sleep. lots of sleep. finally i feel i am getting over the last virus – surely it must be a virus to have survived 10 days of penicillin and lasted since early march. here’s hoping for a return to form real soon.
no doubt, an encroaching and imminent hole in my pocket for purchase of tools and cement.
today i went to see bowling for columbine at the bracknell cinema. excellent film, as evinced by its oscar. i can’t say that i agree with everything that michael moore says or does, but he makes a compelling thrust towards the media combined with too many guns, too readily available as being contributory to some of the harm in American culture, not to mention the 11,000+ gun-related deaths per annum in the USA, versus the 170 or so in the UK.
if the UK has one fifth the population of the USA, that latter figure ought to be closer to 2200. one sixth the population would be 1800; so, 170 seems pretty good.
i almost feel “safe”. pity there are still loons out there.
