October 20, 2007 – Apple subsidiary FileMaker will be killing off its FileMaker Mobile product in next week, sources report. FileMaker Mobile 8, which is compatible with the newest FileMaker 9 software, allows Palm OS, PocketPC, and Windows Mobile devices to communicate with FileMaker databases.
Sources report the proliferation of Web-ready phones, like the iPhone, led FileMaker to abandon development of the specific Mobile version of its software. Any device with a full Web browser can access FileMaker databases.
…because once again the killer application will be the Browser, except this time it will be much, much smaller.
