And we’re into the home stretch…
I just got back from Dr Rossiter: the short version is that the knee is fine.
The tender “lumpiness” under the incision is due to bone-regrowth plus scar tissue around a couple of hamstring ligaments which he had to move to one side in order to remove the screws. That will go down over the next 6 months, and the flare-up I am currently having is to be expected.
Long term I should “avoid marathon running, avoid fell running and other high impact stuff like that” and although walking is fine, I “shouldn’t take it into my head to walk the entire coast of Britain”.
Cycling and swimming and normal walking are fantastic, and I should strive to stay fit and healthy. There is slight knobbly-ness of the one joint surface setting in, which gives me an elevated risk of arthritis in 10 or 20 years – or I could escape that entirely. He does not know for certain.
Plus, I don’t need to see him again.
So, basically, it’s over.
Little wiser, little creakier, yadda yadda…
