It takes about three hours to do a coat of paint in my bedroom; this seems like a long time, but includes everything from setting-up to washing-out the rollers and brushes, along with shuffling-around the dust-sheets and suchlike.
The room is now, well, less pink. Mostly white. Hint-of-underlying-pinkish, but when the sunlight hits it, it is blindingly brighter than it was previously, and that is the effect that I am looking for. Even with a extension pole, the ceiling requires stamina to paint, but is taking it well. This has been the first of two primer-coats of vinyl matt emulsion, a bit streaky, with good paint-coverage but a couple of patches of poor adhesion which I shall have to watch. It’s still a vast improvement even though it has thrown-up a couple of flaws in my spackling/filling, which I shall address before carrying-on. One more coat of primer, then two coats of professional-quality matt/silk white, then two coats of colour on the walls. Practically, the ETA for finishing will be 1 week from friday, given the restricted amount of time I can spend upon it. Next TODO item: look and see if I can get my radiators dipped/stripped, to save on bother; otherwise I will have to work out a temporary over-paint kludge. – alec
