February Snow

Serious Snow (for the UK)

This is more like it – and it’s actually warmer than it has been for a couple of days; the snow has stabilised the termperature at 0c/32f so it probably will not last long, since this is much warmer than the -8c/18f which is the coldest I’ve recorded this week.

Very lovely. Understand many things have come to a complete stop. We, on the other hand have been slogging through 6 below 0F (-21C)lows at night and 8F or 9F degree days (-13C for a high) for almost a week now. A lot of schools were closed, but not much else. Somehow, it has snowed on several occasions at these low temperatures, which I didn’t think was possible. How does that happen?

Hi. Is he responding well? My cat Lucky has just been diagnosed with the same

    Hi Fi,

Yes he has responded well to treatment, it’s taken a while but he’s on 3 different medications per day – a diuretic, a thyroid controller and a heart medicine. The fluid buildup he suffered has vanished, and although he’s clearly an elderly cat and not as fit as he once was, he has a high quality of life and looks happy and normal.

Hi . I am glad that he is ok .My cat Lucky has been put on exactly the same medication. Really worried about him. He has to have thyroid tablet 3 times per day, heart medication once per day and liquid diuretic three times per day. looked like it was working but swelling has come back now. Did Buster’s get worse before it got better ?

Yes, exactly so; I would say it was a month before there was a marked improvement but then it shed off him fairly fast. After 10 weeks he is looking mostly normal, but early on in the treatment there was a point he was so big he would slosh like a water balloon.

He’s on 2.5mg Felimazole (thyroid) 2x per day, Fortekor (heart) 1x per day, and a frusamide half-pill (diuretic) once a day – it was quarter-pill doses 3x per day, but that was consolidated into a single dose of half-a pill.

When I was travelling, all of the above were consolidated into a single daily pill-dosage, as approved by my vet. For short term that shouldn’t be a problem, and I have found a good local carer who can deal with it all.
