Poohstick Bridge QT Panorama

Long-term readers will know my appreciation of the game of Poohsticks; for complicated reasons I was doing a search on the topic, and encountered an incredible 360-degree QuickTime panorama of the “real” bridge, which especially if you have a Apple MightyMouse makes an extraordinary browsing experience.

I’ve seen similar before, but this one is far more interesting than the usual “view of our hotel restaurant” thing.

    For complicated reasons? I like that… 🙂

From my University days, and as a result of much simpler reasons involving the imbibing of a significant quantity of Taunton Exhibition cider (served on draft solely at the Coronation Tap, which is located maybe a quarter of a mile away from the bridge on the City side), I have a fond memory of playing Poohsticks off http://www.clifton-suspension-bridge.org.uk . Binoculars were required to determine who had won. Not having played off the original bridge yet, I can’t say whether it was more fun or not, but fun it certainly was.

    Happy, and more unhinged, days…

The “real” bridge is OK, but crowded and overbuilt to cope with weight of tourism. My favourite bridge of the moment is a short cycle ride from my house:
