Baby Steps

DaveW came to visit today, and helped with the gardening; the side footpath was heavily overgrown so we attacked it with loppers and secateurs, and he barrowed-away the debris.

I then fitted him up with the Stihl leaf-blower, and the path is now clear, too.

On the back of all this, I made some progress with baby-steps, shuffling slightly but walking without the aid of crutches.

After severral cups of tea and conversation, Dave just left, and so I’ve just now stood up, off the bed, walked slowly into the kitchen, retreived the short stepladder, and walked back.

My first walking chore in 9 weeks. Not bad.

Still waiting to see what the consultant says on monday.

WOW!!! Not bad, not bad at all.

At 9 weeks, I was basically out of a wheelchair and accomplishing such feats as not falling over while using my crutches.

You weren’t planning on using that step stool, were you?

Nope, but if I sit on the floor to sort my laundry, it’s ideal to lever myself back onto the bed.

Nice one mate, you racing Leon Brooks for the “miraculous speed of recover” cup then ? 🙂

Seriously though, this is great news!
