This Is Not A Joke

The National Public Toilet Map is part of the Australian government’s National Continence Management Strategy (NCMS). The map allows more Australians with urinary and fecal incontinence problems to live and participate in their communities with dignity and confidence, by making it easier for them to find information about the location of public toilets.

I just love that turn of phrase – National Continence Management Strategy – it’s so…. redolent.

Well, if you’re unfortunate enough to have suffered from serious bowel disease (like I did a few years back) then you end up planning any trip outside the house by availability of toilet facilities; neither fun nor funny…

Unfortunately in the UK they seem to be closing down public lavs at a rapid rate.

I don’t debate the importance of it – in fact it makes me wonder if the situation is the same as Britain – that you have to have a “National Strategy” – perhaps with “Potty Targets” – to prevent the local authorities closing-down the facilities.
