Saturn, Jupiter, & 4 (maybe 6?) Jovian Moons

This is a cheap hack: take my MN56, bang a 12mm TeleVue Radian into it, and then point the phone into it; others will take far, far better pictures, but I remain amazed that this is possible when – during the Shoemaker Levy impact of 1994 – I would have considered doing this to be a pipe-dream:

The layout of Jupiter’s moons is as follows:

…and this screencap from some video allows you to see Io as well as Europa, the former being lost in the glare of Jupiter:

with the eye and slightly averted vision, I reckoned that I could see 6 moons (one of which is tagged yellow in the image, possibly a background star? It seems to be a different colour, which was not apparent visually) and another which is not in the photos that I can find.

The big problem with eyepiece-projection into a phone, is massive over-exposure. Alas. Maybe tomorrow if it’s clear again, I might try some prime focus with the Raspberry Pi HD Camera.
