Our preschooler until a few weeks ago didn’t really have much in the way of digital/tablet skills — there was a big confidence challenge along the lines of: “I don’t know how to do this so I’m going to say that I can’t do this”.

Just a few sessions with CBeebies Get Creative and we’ve gone from hesitancy to her navigating the CBeebies apps, loading her own games and skins, discovering how they work, and explaining them to me with delight.

She figured out the block builder and paint apps all by herself – confidence is building at speed. The only downside is that we will need a tablet upgrade fairly soon because it needs more power than a 7-in rubber bumper Kindle can provide.

The only criticism so far from the kid is that the paint app colours do not blend together in the same way that real paint would. She wants to mix red and blue on screen and have the resulting picture go a little bit purple.
