Wouldn’t it be easier to make it illegal to trick, mislead, or defraud people?

The reaction against AI is a microcosm of the “cyber” prefix debacle, the broad and largely erroneous assumption that “people doing bad things to other people by means of {AI, the internet, telegraphy/wire-fraud, the postal service} is somehow distinct from doing it face to face, and also supposedly not covered by existing legislation.

Lina Khan writes a short thread:
