   B&Q and Argos do packing boxes that might suit

   Almost any self-storage place will sell you packing boxes, also, even if you are not storing stuff with them. Argos is probably cheaper.

   Go plastic: 1) you can see the contents; 2) they are waterproof; 3) paper and books will age more gracefully.

   1- Feegle (the old Freecycle)
   2- Lok n Store on Hawley Lane seels various sizes
   3- IKEA- was there last night and they do plastic and cardboard. Go after 5pm to miss the crowds
