“Russia apparently intercepted and released a 30-minute Webex conference call between German military officials who discussed the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine”

Gosh, if only there was a technology which could help mitigate this kind of risk:

  1. @alecm would E2E really have helped? I am presuming the Russian government didn't hack Cisco/WebEx in order to MiTM the meeting. So that leaves compromising one of the people in the conversation; and that means E2E wouldn't help…

    1. @alecm ah, looks like it is presumed one of the participants connected via phone, meaning not encrypted – so it probably was intercepted. But that would have happened with E2E – because people still insist on using stupid old tech (e.g. Zoom does E2E but still allows telephone connections because that’s what customers want…)

It’s possibly worse than that, Jason:

‘German opposition MP and military expert Roderich Kiesewetter (member of the Parliamentary Control Commission of the German Defense) just implied that there was no wiretap at all: “Unfortunately, there are increasing indications that a Russian participant dialed into the Webex call and apparently no one noticed that there was another number dialing in”‘
