This evening’s 3D-Print: Wine Rack Stackers

I have two 1990s vintage cheapo wine racks but an alcove which is only big enough to fit 1.6 of them; so I cut the bottom off of one using tin snips, and then 3D printed some butterfly ties so that they can be stacked on top of each other.

The tie has the same cross section as the wooden bars but rotated 45°, and then a couple of notches are removed from the tie, using the tie itself as a die to ‘cut’ out from the model.

  1. @alecm Haha! Isn’t that over engineering? I have had plenty of those and always stacked by putting them slightly out of alignment! Very stable solution.

    1. I didn’t like the Idea of the stack being squiffy unless it was running horizontally as well ss vertically

  2. I Like Beer

I’m more of a white wine person myself, but like red wine too.

My biggest worry is, I sure would like to see more cross bracing in the structure than just the tiny little bit visible in the first photo.

    ? Cheers! ?
