I know this article a bit old, but I remain amazed that one of the big talking-points in favour of the EU’s DMA was that it would solve the “ivory tower” aspects of platforms such as iMessage being (e.g.) inaccessible to everyone on Android

Given news re: Beeper giving up, perhaps the time is ripe for people to start reconsidering my proposal that closed software messenger apps are sometimes a good thing and enforced messenger interoperability is a generally a bad thing.
