I think this is fabulously geeky. I also think that various privacy and anti-AI activists are going to have a conniption fit at the potential for homebrew ANPR solutions and concomitant data protection panic when they realise what will happen with people embracing technology like this at home in uncontrolled environments.
As ever: the battle will be to prevent governments attempting to chill people’s access to software.
