I got to see a Triumph Rocket III yesterday

The new King of the British bike industry is also the largest production motorcycle in the world – the 2.3ltr Triumph Rocket III.

There’s not much point in me reviewing what is comprehensively written-up (or pointed-at) elsewhere [www.motorcycle-blog.com] but I will note that:

  1. it is smaller/shorter than I expected
  2. most of the chassis, is engine
  3. the pillion seat would barely take a midget supermodel
  4. the radiator will be a bug-magnet
  5. blipping the throttle has a BMW-esque shaft-drive torque reaction
  6. it sounds great
  7. from the seat it looks, erm, “buxom”. not “fat”. definitely not “fat”. just “buxom”, or “pinched”, perhaps
  8. from the seat you can also see the chrome widget on the front wheel fender; i gather some find this disconcerting
  9. “this is a british bike?”
