“Public backs ‘super ID card’ which could be used to report potholes, Tony Blair’s think tank says” | The Independent | WHAT IN THE NAME OF GOD??!?

We already have “the app”, it’s called FixMyStreet, it does not need an ID card to use:

Three-quarters of those polled supported the use of such an app to track the progress of applications made to local authorities, while some 69 per cent said they wanted it for voting or receiving official notifications, the Tony Blair Institute report showed.

  1. @alecm did they ask if “public” wanted the card for “others” or themselves ???

  2. @alecm someone should tell starmer that estonia has a physical id too which doesn't exclude people with dumbphones

    1. @foobarry @alecm it has to, right? making ownership of a smartphone a requirement to work is stupid. I've less objection to the ID than to making it digital-only. All they would really have to do is overhaul the NI Card with a picture, maybe a QR code to verify authenticity. Visas are already in passports. It's not rocket science

  3. @alecm Part of the car culture. Drivers are obsessed with potholes, in the same way as householders about rubbish collections. Someone picked a salient if pointless use case there.

  4. @alecm

Another failed politician on an ego trip, searching for relevance.

Never mind, Tony, Uncle Donald will give you Gaza to run under his "guidance".

  5. @alecm so this is what Larry Ellison was funnelling hundreds of millions into TBI for, a nice digital profile on every brit.

  6. @alecm I really don't put much stock in anything Tony B Liar says.
