I deplore what’s happening in the USA, but there’s a side-game I’m watching closely & more neutrally: advocates for the past ~15 years of proactive tech fearmongering are gone from their positions of leverage. This will cause change both good & bad, but I most fear…

…but I most fear that we’re headed towards a sedimented, more polarised world where any technology which empowers individuals and distribution is natural and good in the USA and foreign and bad in Europe; and contra-wise any regulation and constraint upon tech availability to individuals is natural and good in Europe and foreign and bad everywhere else.

Individual liberties and collective benefits will all be thrown under the bus in pursuit of ideology and reaction, respectively.
