Dr Who Update

Chris the Mad Cyclist writes:

Thank you Auntie. Doctor Who at is finest and as many have asked for, the return of the cliff hanger. Fabulous.

I concur; I believe they overdid the fart-jokes, but I am well chuffed at the new Dr Who. Kudos to the writers and Chris Eccleston and (I’ve gotta say this) Billie Piper, who’s doing a stonking job so far as a post-2000 sidekick.

Well, I’m certainly making sure I’m at home and on (rather than behind) my sofa at 19:00 on Saturdays for the foreseeable. It’s great to see so many references to Dr Who heritage turning up in the new series (UNIT popping up in last Saturday’s episode) too.

However, I have noticed that, with the sole exception of Episode 2 – which took place mostly on a space station in Earth orbit – all episodes so far have been set on Earth (and, indeed, within the UK). Has the BBC still got its quarry, I wonder?

Well, as well as the fart jokes, I thought it silly that they used normal zip fasteners on the forehead. Surely, a being who could take over the costume of a human and reprogram a pig would use something a bit less obvious and mundane as a fastener.. and how long did it take them to stick the blighters into the human suit? It would have been better to have just made it more of a mystery as to how they fastened them? It just seemed like something thrown in assuming that the audience are all kids to make them giggle.

Sadly, I missed the last half of the episode, but you can’t overdo fart jokes.
