7am and all’s hell

Well it’s been a horrible week, mostly from the perspective of this blasted cold which is bouncing merrily around my head, throat and lungs, wreaking merry chaos and exhausting my supply of beertowels[1] at a terrifying rate.

Between that and the phenomenal amount of work that is coming down the pipe, I decided to take yesterday off, abscond with Simon, and go to the Bike Show at Alexandra Palace. Blew a small fortune: new Arai lid on reduction, a Micron paddock stand, and a Bagster tank-cover and tank-bag for the Beemer – but at least it is all stuff that I will use.

If I recover enough today I may even take a trip to the seaside to rack-up some mileage.

In other news: there isn’t really any other news. Work has been all-consuming for the past week, and that which has not been work has been being ill, asleep, or staring sleep-deprived at the ceiling in the wee hours of the morning, listening hypnotically to the chorus of Lilibulero chiming from the BBC World Service, during the off-hours of Radio 4.

…and then, Charlotte Green makes it all better. A little.

[1] Beertowels are a convenient size, stronger, softer and more absorbent than handkerchiefs, and are washable / conditionable terrycloth which I can “do” with my other laundry – and are therefore also more ecologically sound. Maybe it look silly, but your nose appreciates it, too.

I hope you start feeling better soon.

I meant to ask you earlier in the week how your presentation went on Monday but forgot.

By the way, it seems that rac’s caught a cold thing from Saturday’s party and I’ve had the sniffles so you’re not alone.

“She has been reading the news on the Today programme since the time of Brian Redhead and needs the money because of an unfortunate addiction to Garry’s racing tips.”

    🙂
