There was a big and friendly (and incestuous) scene back in the 80s; we had public access accounts – and some less-than-legitimate ones, too – and hung out on bulletin boards, muds (CALL 00004960000001, anyone?) and occasional unguarded PSS gateways <cough>.

So gradually I’ve been building up a list of who-was-who; funniest one was a few years back when I suddenly realised the guy I had just been introduced to by a mutual security uber-geek friend was Stork from Soton.  He seemed a bit shocked that someone knew his handle.

And of course I know where the AberMUD crowd are – well, almost all of them, at any rate – and some of the UCL mob, plus Lorry from Leeds (but he doesn’t really count) and Ghost from Holloway.  Doubtless a few others which don’t currently spring to mind.

I wonder if anyone else out there wishes to out themselves?
