…in fact it’s been rot13(“fuvg”).
I woke up with backache – a muscle beneath my left shoulderblade was tense and refusing to loosen; a Radox bath gave me 10 minutes relief but once I fed the cats it seized completely and left me flat on my back on the kitchen floor. I crawled, literally, back to bed, and suffered several of the most boring hours ever, staring at the ceiling whilst my back muscles agonisingly thunked to themselves.
Following a tip from a colleague who suffered a pinched disk in his spine, I hauled myself vertical and found relief in standing at parade rest, got downstairs to a walking stick, and forced myself to prep lunch. A salad-houmous-and-stilton wrap later, the muscle spontaneously relaxed, merely leaving me in pain rather than ongoing agony.
Now – 13 hours later – it’s just a dull ache, and a day wasted. That’s the annoying bit. There’s so much more to be doing. So many new and interesting things going on at work, and stuff I need to be doing at home.
Oh well. At least I have had a day that has permitted a little time to think. That’s precious.
The Power of Nightmares on BBC2 is starting. More later.
