Torvalds Uses Profanity To Lambaste Romney Remarks # Were he the Queen folk would be saying “Linus Torvalds is unelected and should not comment publicly…”

“Last night Linux creator Linus Torvalds took to his Google+ page and called Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney ‘a f***ing moron.’ Torvalds’ stated reason? Romney’s much-ridiculed suggestion that air passengers would be safer in emergencies if aircraft windows could be opened (a suggestion which some, including Snopes.com, have taken as a joke). Torvalds also recently called Mormonism, Romney’s religion, ‘bats**t crazy.’ Is this just Linus being Linus? Or does such outspokenness on non-technical matters reflect poorly on the Linux community that Torvalds leads?”

  1. The Linux kernel developer community is pretty small, and knows Linus and his forth right opinions. Trust me almost no one will abandon the kernel named after him over this, not least because most American’s think Mormonism is bats**t crazy, and those few who don’t will likely recognize his skills at herding kernel developers (and writing code) are not particularly influenced by his lack of religion.

The difference is Linus probably thinks the religion of most Americans is bats**t crazy as well, but he hasn’t mentioned that as far as I know. But come on zombies, unicorns, virgin births, selective picking of the supposed commandments etc, and no one as cute as Buffy to sell this stuff. Testament to the feebleness of our minds I fear.

Although I’ve always had a soft spot for the existence of Unicorns, that one is possibly just a translation issue.
