BBC News – Reaction: Sun publishes Prince Harry naked photos.

“I think it’d be disgraceful if a chap wasn’t allowed to have a bit of fun in Las Vegas. The real scandal would be if you went all the way to Las Vegas and you didn’t misbehave in some trivial way.”

My opinion: mixed.

• I particularly don’t care who Harry cavorts with.
• As a friend put it: if a fit junior officer of the British Army and who’s single goes to Vegas and doesn’t party, it’s a crime.
• That I saw the pictures same-day courtesy of the Internet, is the way of the world.
• That fear of Leveson prevented the press publishing the photos, is tragic.
• That anyone cares that the press eventually printed the photos, is tragic.
• That we have censorship – medium-specific or otherwise – is tragic.
• That we dress it up as responsibility, is tragic.
• That censorship will come to the Internet in the UK next, is worse.

It’s the latter which gives me pause.
