totally ripped

With the exception of a small number of DRM-faffed CDs:

  • Queens of the Stone Age: Songs for the Deaf
  • David Grey: White Ladder

…which will doubtless succumb to LAME on Linux; aside from these plus one DVD-Single with which I have yet to work-out what to do, my iPod now contains every music and spoken-word CD that possess – some 7599 songs on 40Gb storage (claimed; real: 37.2Gb) with 6Gb spare.

The net benefit to me is to free-up a large chunk of my iBook’s hard drive…

I bought the “Best of the Old Grey Whistle Test” (yes, I do remember it!) which has some cracking stuff on it such as a stomping version of Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd (though sadly not Bauhaus doing “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”), and I’m trying to figure out how I can get it onto my iPod..

    No luck so far.. 🙁

How does that work? My iTunes collection is mirrored on my laptop and my iPod. No net saving at all. How did you free-up space?

by having an iMac with twin 250Gb drives at home. 😎

the iPod means that mobile music need no longer live on my iBook.
