Solution: MI5 urges radical security moves

Apparently it’s too dangerous for politicians to remain in parliament without Big Ben being exploded to fall on top of them.

Apparently (irony abounds) the current concrete defenses could act as “dangerous missiles” if they get blown up.

No shit, Sherlock?

The expensive solution: put up steel barriers that will destroy the look of the place. Nobody says what will happen to those with half an ounce of C4 behind them.

See [news.bbc.co.uk] for details.

I ask: Why is nobody asking for the inexpensive solution:

Move the Parliament out of London!

Move it to (say) Birmingham, Consett, or maybe Bangor; the latter is especially a good idea as Wales is/was Meibion Glyndwr‘s turf (if any of them are left) – and whatever remains of the IRA are unlikely to interfere with fellow Celtic activists.

If the politicians are such a risk to the capital, surely they should be moved out of London forthwith?

…or produce a “work from home” policy which enables them to spend more time in their constituencies, and organise sittings on IRC (or better, SILC).

“Mr Moderator, as the honourable gentleman typed not three lines above…” ;-).

It would make life much easier for the producers of Hansard, too – it would just become a website populated with scrollback…
