No video?! Waah!
Steph will be posting more photos later…
I had a look through the collection of “beacon” photos at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/the_queens_diamond_jubilee/9311457/The-Queens-Diamond-Jubilee-beacons-are-lit-across-the-Commonwealth.html and was rather surprised that most of them were about the size of my deskside waste paper basket. I was rather expecting the major ones to be more along the lines of those depicted between Minas Tirith and Edoras…
Ta for the extra link; the bricks in the foreground give a much better idea of the scale of the fallen Aber beacon basket. Assuming they’re standard house bricks, I’d guess the basket is somewhere around 5 feet across, which is rather better than a waste paper basket…
http://www.flickr.com/photos/80131658@N03/7348997412/in/photostream gives a good impression of the size
