Chainmail Socks for #Barefoot Running. Yes, really. Eat your heart out #Vibram

I had dinner with my ex-colleague Constantin Gonzalez (visiting from Munich) and he’s heavily into barefoot/ish running, working serially through trainers, Terra Plana shoes, Vibram Five-Fingers, and then doing 10km runs through the forests of Munich, barefoot.

A friend of his manufactures chainmail gloves for the butchery/fishmonger trade and as an experiment made some chainmail socks which Constantin beta-tested for running:

…with voiceover in German, obviously, but that’s not a problem; further videos and testing are at Constantin’s page: GoSt Barefoot Tests on Vimeo.

UPDATE: Product web page; have already suggested to Constantin that some folk I know might have special requests…

  1. Video #3 includes testing by literally walking on broken glass…

  2. Hi Alec,

    thanks for the post!

BTW, that was minimal video production: Point & shoot with my iPhone 4, then some iMovie, that’s it, done in an afternoon.

Jörg, the guy that invented these is not a manufacturer himself, but he got the manufacturer hooked pretty quickly:

Let me know when you’re near Munich!
