memes like this were/are all the rage on livejournal, and this is the first one that i’ve seen or thought to participate in since dropsafe was first posted.

not unlike the tom lehrer song of some fame, i got it from geoff [www.geoffarnold.com] who got it from dave [www.dme.org] who got it from tim [www.tbray.org] and no doubt the latter is going to use it to debug his technorati linkages, given that he added the point back instruction. 😎

So, with no further ado:

Meme Instructions: Grab the nearest book, open it to page 23, find the 5th sentence, and post its text along with these instructions. I would add to the instructions: point back to where you got the idea so that we can follow the threads.

    Well, the “nearest” book did not have too much text in it, so instead of the 5th sentence I had to take the 5th phrase…

    The nearest book only has one sentence on page 23:
