…knowing that it’s fiddly, I felt it would be worth sharing. I am not entirely sure how I solved it – perhaps there is a more minimal method – but in the end I did this:

1) visit http://apps.facebook.com/twitter/

2) “Want to disconnect your Twitter and Facebook accounts?”

3) Disconnect the accounts

4) Wait a bit

5) “Account > Privacy Settings”

6) “Apps and websites – Edit your settings for using apps, games and websites.”

7) “Twitter”

8 ) “Remove App”

9) Wait a bit

10) “Account > Log out” of facebook

11) Quit the browser and restart it

12) Go to www.facebook.com

13) Check you are _really_ logged out

14) Log in

15) visit http://apps.facebook.com/twitter/

16) subscribe to the app and relink your accounts, which should be a tedious process

17) test
