chris: we have bees and 2 ducks (not near each other of course)
chris: fresh duck eggs... yum...

alecm: agreed; was getting duck eggs from lovely neighbours
alecm: ducks stopped laying after they got spooked by a fox
alecm: sad

chris: took quite a while before they started laying for us
chris: but now they are very happy
chris: they've trained us to collect snails for them at night and feed them to them during the day :)

alecm: having ducks next door has been fabulous for my slug problem
alecm: it's like having a black-hole of slugs next door

chris: I've pondered about how to safely move the ducks around the garden
chris: but they're really only that interested if we bring snails to them ;)

alecm: they enjoy the simplicity of being served

chris: sounds almost too human :)

alecm: and slightly bolshy, too

chris: ours guilt us into it
chris: they stand by the wire and look sorry for themselves
chris: though quite how a duck manages to look sorry for itself I'm not sure
chris: but they manage it quite well!

alecm: ah, you have duck with glum sauce :)
