well i blew-away my jaguar partition last night; a complete reinstall, and it’s worked rather well. aside from a minor but repairable goof in copying my files back from the archive harddisk, everything has gone well, and is rather faster (it was not hype) although the machine runs warmer as a result.
tip: when backing-up a system via “rsync”, run “SplitForks” to non-destructively duplicate Macos HFS metainformation to a external file (named ._foo for any given file foo) ; this information can be purged at a later date, but in case of disaster you can copy-out all foo/._foo files to a UFS partition, whereupon dragging them back with Finder will restore the metainformation.
