as the inspirons sleet through my brain, i have always had a list of neato ideas for twilight-zone-esque scifi short-stories in the back of my head.
another one hit me this morning, so i thought i might share a few for the purposes of archiving in the blog. they’re a bit corny, but i like doing them:
- the one where the woman overcharges her dustbuster, and when it is next switched on, it consumes the entire solar system; there is an argument that this may already have happened.
- the one where a guy at an IT company, by dint of working strange hours, card-swipes himself out of his building every night, but never swipes himself in. gradually he ceases to exist in the eyes of the rest of the world.
- the australian beer-cooler which is the cause of global warming.
- (elaborating on an old joke) – the apiarist who branches-out into earwigs, and sells chutney at a roadside stall.
- the demo-license for the universe, expires.
- lifecycle of the teabag tree.
- the discovery and subsequent marketing of the “pink flavour”.
Maybe I should flesh one of these out. Any preferences?
