a man (who wants to give everyone a national identity card and make them pay for the privilege, due to his inability to deal with asylum seekers) tells us that the laws he passed last time to evict nuisance neighbours (who presumably all live in rented accomodation) and keep homeless people and prostitutes off the streets – now wants to pass another set of laws that permit the police punitive measures without due process against the same people, in the hope that this will get them to act. presumably he thinks they’ve not acted before due to laziness, or somesuch. in similar news, another man is calling for advertising of sugary and (later) fatty foods to be banned from television, because parents are stupid and cannot be expected to know what’s good for their children’s health. surprisingly there have been no articles today upon the terror of britain’s gun culture, but then having successfully forbidden every form of gun except for the ones that are owned by criminals – which are unsuccessfully forbidden – the home office are presumably stuck for ideas for more legislation to pass. now: is anyone here not familiar with the term nanny state?
