I shall have to try Hendrick’s. My wife and I had a fling with Bombay Sapphire but over a few years came back to Tanqueray. Although Bombay Sapphire is tastier in a way, we thought that Tanqueray was sharper and drier in a G’N’T, which is the entire point for us.
Chris Morgan, in which case you should try Plymouth gin, which is of very high quality. My personal favourite is Hendrick’s, followed by Plymouth, followed by Bombay Sapphire.
Timely… cracked that Bombay Sapphire that Graham gave me tonight… first gin in months (literally… pre-Christmas probably). Have to say I’ve not explored beyond this, but I prefer mine with Bitter Lemon rather than Tonic.
Must remember to try that sloe idea of yours to use up the old Gordon’s.
My personal preferences…
Tanqueray 10 (yeah, it is for martinis, but excellent in a G&T too)
Bombay Sapphire
Tanqueray Rangpur
Tanqueray
Citadelle (kind of heavy, but good when in the mood)
The other oddball, hard to find ones that I have liked include several of the Martin Miller varieties. If you see them, give them a shot. 🙂
bill.
