Been there. Done that. 30 years ago, I was the support rep for NBI word processing assigned to the US Civil Service Commission, whose records were kept in limestone caves in Boyers, PA, up by Slippery Rock. All very hush hush. Follow the directions, drive down a side road into the middle of a field, and into a hole in the ground surrounded by concrete barricades. Meet armed guards. Sign paper saying you are a legal resident or US citizen, get issued a hard hat and fire extinguisher and drive inside. Much like old Atari computer game meets Hampton Court Maze. All walls painted institutional green, tunnels everywhere, doors color keyed. If you didn’t know where you were going, you were screwed. Very strange place. Happy to see that it is still going as part of ironmountain.com and that Bill Gates’ picture archives among other interesting items are now housed there.
